RIYADH: A brace from ace striker Yasser Al Qahtani helped AFC Asian Cup 2007™ runners-up Saudi Arabia rout 10-man Ghana 5-0 in a friendly here on Tuesday.
Al Qahtani drew the first blood for Hélio dos Anjos charges in the fifth minute while Saud Khariri doubled the advantage in the 25th minute. Al Qahtani completed his brace six minutes into the second half while Saad Al Harthi made it 4-0 from the spot six minutes later.
Ghana were reduced to 10-man when Ona was given his marching orders seven minutes from time while Redha Tukar sealed a comprehensive victory for the hosts in the stoppage time from the spot.
An elated Anjos said: We had a short camp for this match and it helped in bringing the players together. The match was important for us to test the readiness of the players.
I know that some of the players are not fit enough but that is normal. Yasser (Al Qahtani) and Saad (Al Harthi) impressed me today.
